Guwahati has a big weekend coming. Burpp Fest, which calls itself the Northeast's food, music and culture festival, takes over the Sarusajai Sports Complex on 10 and 11 October.
The line-up
- Day 1, Saturday 10 October: Mumbai rapper DIVINE headlines.
- Day 2, Sunday 11 October: pop veteran Lucky Ali, whose songs have soundtracked three decades of road trips.
Also on the bill are rapper Yung Sammy, pop-rock band The Yellow Diary, Goan artist Tsumyoki and DJ OG SHEZ. Check the festival's ticket page for who plays which day.
Hip-hop on Saturday, sing-along nostalgia on Sunday.
Why it matters
Big national acts used to skip the Northeast or play only Shillong. Guwahati now draws major names more often, and festivals like this one give local food sellers and young bands a stage in front of large crowds too.
Before you go
- Tickets are on BookMyShow. Weekend passes for big headliners tend to go first.
- Carry a photo ID, and check the festival's rules on bags and outside food.
- Plan your ride home. Traffic around large events in Guwahati builds up fast at closing time.
- October evenings are pleasant, but carry something for a sudden shower.
